1852 from parts of Fallowfield and
[2] According to Crumrine (pg.
645-7), Thomas Stockdale, whose family were English Quakers, purchased
200 acres of this tract in 1800 and 1801. Joseph and Deborah (HILL) ALLEN were in this area far earlier as
they first received a patent for “Allenton” on the
[3] Crumrine (pg. 645) says
Lawrence and John CROW were brothers who settled on adjoining tracts which
adjoined “William Jackman, Joseph Allen, William Howe, and Joshua Dixon. The two brothers lived here on these
farms and died before 1796, as in that year the lands of William Howe are mentioned as ‘adjoining the
lands of the heirs of Lawrence and John Crow
and others.’”
