Our goal at Ancestor Tracks is to publish maps and land ownership information allowing genealogy researchers to pinpoint the locations where our ancestors lived. The state of Pennsylvania began platting the exact metes-and-bounds tracts of the earliest landowners, township-by-township, starting in 1907, and they completed all of Schuylkill County many years ago. At some point, it is our intent to publish a volume containing all of the information on the Township Warrantee Maps produced by the state, but you may want to order copies of these maps in the interim. You will find a list below of prices for each Schuylkill County township map so that you can order them from Harrisburg.
We are providing images of the 1875 County Atlas of Schuylkill County from Recent & Actual Surveys & Records, published by F. W. Beers below. An exciting aspect of this atlas is that the names of many of the original settlers are shown in larger (and usually lighter) script while the smaller type designates the residents in 1875. The atlas can be very useful when used with the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census, as well as History of Schuylkill County published by Munsell in 1881. This atlas is in the Library of Congress but some of the pages are in poor condition, so the images we are posting are the best we could produce. Click on the township of your choice. Once the images are loaded, they will undoubtedly appear illegible, but they can be enlarged and clarified by clicking on them. They may also be saved to your computer by right-clicking and selecting "Save Image As..." Be sure to click on the excellent map from the 1881 history at the top of this page which shows how each township was established, and click on it again to enlarge it.
