DEED BOOKS, GRANTOR & GRANTEE INDEXES (after logging in to free account):
The Lancaster County Recorder of Deeds has generously digitized and posted free images of the Grantor/Grantee Indexes 1729-1980 and images of Deed Book A through the present in a database that is extremely easy to use. Create a free account or search as a guest. The easiest way to search the indexes is through this site rather than paging through the images at FamilySearch. Choose the Grantor “Volume”— for example, “1729-1893” or “1940-1953 Grantee.” Enter the last name first followed by a comma and the first name or initial. The search will take you to the first page of the index where the name appears, after which you can use the left and right arrows to progress chronologically through the names in the index. Once you find the Book & Volume and page number in the “Where Recorded” column, click on the “Go To Document” tab at the top of the page, select the book type (“Deed”), enter the information, and click on “Go to Document.” You can print or download the document (if it’s more than one page, enter the number of pages). A deed entered in an index as F 247 means Deed Book F, page 247; a deed entered as H 10 252 means Deed Book H10, page 252.
